Britain is the traditional birthplace of Circus and has had its roots buried deep in the history for the last 250 years. While the UK hosts many travelling circuses, it is also home to some of the top circus acts in the world. Many classic circuses call Britain their home, and many travelling circuses started there, and still come home to perform there regularly.
The world travelled Astral Circus provides more than just an entertaining performance. While they provide the traditional red and white tent for their performances, they also offer walkabout acts, workshops, street theatre and marquee hire. Their style, traditional in practice, has a gipsy-like look and feel and includes fire eaters, fire dancers, clowns, acrobats and tightrope walkers as were as the more modern acrobatic and aerial silk and rope acts.
Following in the footsteps of the man who created the circus 250 years ago, Philip Asterly, the Zippo Circus continues his legacy with a stunning display of equestrian acts. Engineered by Martin “Zippo” Burton 40 years ago, Zippos Circus has been voted as the best circus in Britain, and includes modern and traditional clowns, comic and daredevil acrobats, foot juggling, hand balance acts, and a ringmaster with a renown budgie show! Also said to be Scotland’s favourite circus the performances cover everything a good circus should, but their star performances are the equestrian displays.
