Solo Circus aka Mark Russell has a very broad range of skills including clowning, juggling and stilt walking which makes him a very flexible entertainer and therefore suitable for all occasions. As an entertainer he shows a high level of energy and an excellent ability to interact with people. Due to this, his performances have taken him all over the UK and world wide for children and adults.

The venues and events attended vary from Corporate events to Nightclubs and from Shopping centres to TV work. His previous clients include many private and corporate customers.
Based on the beautiful Malvern Hills in Worcestershire, West Midlands, England, Solo Circus performs locally, nationally and internationally.

As a member of Equity, Mark Russell has full public liability insurance. He also has an enhanced discloser certificate/CRB check.

If your event requires more than one entertainer, this is not a problem as Solo Circus performs alone and with other clowns, jugglers and stilt walkers and circus entertainers.

What's New?

As you will know, 2012 has two big events in store. First the Queens Diamond Jubilee. For events relating to this I can highly recomend a couple of very Bristish acts found right here. Firstly, Mr Dandy Doo, English gentleman juggler, very proper indeed! Usual top hat & tails with a dash of red, white and blue. Available as a juggling stilt walker, penny farthing rider or a performer of static comedy juggling shows. To be fair, you can have all this at just one event!
Also on offer is PC Parody, Old English policeman. Very traditional looking comedy policeman, great for patriotic events. Available on a penny farthing or as a stilt walker. See more here...Victorian Themed Performances

The Second big event this year is obviously The Olympics, London 2012. For this special occasion there is an addition to the acts available from The Circus of Eccentric Cycles. Now available is the Team GB themed comedy cyclist. All the usual daft stuff but in Team GB cycling kit. As well as the red, white and blue costume, the stilt bike will be decorated with Union Jack flags.

What does Solo Circus doo?

Mr Doo - Comedy Juggler

Mr Doo...Daft geezer who performs high level juggling skills with not too serious banter.

Skills performed include: juggling (balls 5, clubs 4, knives, fire, axes, rubber chickens), stilt walking and cycling, unicycling up to 6 feet high, ladder balancing, plate spinning, diabolo, devil sticks, cigar boxes, balloon modelling, comedy / trick cycling, rola-bola, hat manipulation, object balancing (chair on chin...that sort of thing!).

Available as a walkabout, static show and stilt walker. Mr Doo is also an excellent circus skills instructor and provides great circus skills workshops.

Mr Doo is a clown, juggler and stilt walker all in one. A great choice of entertainer for family events.

Comedy Juggling Shows

Slap stick and verbal comedy with a large helping of impressive skills make for a very entertaining show. Skills included in the show are five ball juggling, ladder balancing, 6 foot high unicycling and fire or knive juggling. There may even be a little magic!

Shows are performed in both a slapstick clown style and a comedy juggler street show style.

See Mr Doo juggle a knife, a fire torch and an axe on the 6 foot high unicyle.

Walkabout Performances

Also known as mix & mingle. Mr Doo performs on the move in a very interactive style through crowds, up and down queues and wherever required. Using stilt walking, juggling, magic, balloons and his mini clown bicycle. Walkabout performances are great for any event which requires roaming entertainment such as stilt walkers around a venue. Walkabout is suitable for almost all types of events especially store promotions, fetes, shopping centres, festivals and any type of funday in general.

Walkabout is performed in a variety of different looks and characters including.....Clown, Juggler, Blag-it the wizard, PC Parody the Victorian policeman, Stilt walking Angel, Dark Funky Fairy, Victorian Juggler, Jester, Comedy Cyclist etc, etc.....

Stilt Walker

Although stilt walking comes under walkabout performances I feel that it needs a mention of its own as it is probably what Solo Circus is booked for most. Stilt walking is a fantastic form of performance and is suited to any event, it is highly visual and, with the right character or person attached, highly entertaining. Mr Doo is a very interactive character, some would say cheeky too (I think they are right!) and combining stilts, juggling, magic and a pretty daft sense of humour makes a performance well worth booking. A stilt walker is ideal for meet & greet, promotional events, parades and any event where the entertainers are requested to roam. Solo Circus performs a few different stilt characters listed below but if you think of something not listed please ask as some characters can be organised as a one off, as some have in the past.

Comedy Bicycles

Mr Doo performs on various comedy bicycles including...the stilts bike (pictured left), mini clown bikes, unicycles, a Penny farthing and also recently added to his quiver of bikes, is the sea sick bike.
The comedy bikes or trick bikes are used for cycle related events and non cycle related events.
All the different bicycles can be performed with various costume /character changes in one day at the same event!. This makes up a very unique act.

All of the bikes are used with a combiation of clowning, circus skills and genuine cycling enthusiasm.

The Circus of Eccentric Cycles is a great addition to events trying to encourage cycling as a fun activity, which lets face it...it is really fun!

Victorian / Dickensian themed Entertainment

Mr Dandy Doo - Victorian / Dickensian Themed Juggler

Victorian themed character Dandy Doo, very smart costume in top hat and tails on and off of stilts or on a penny farthing, with or without make-up.

Juggling shows also performed in this style.

This is very popular for Christmas events but available all year.

PC Parody - Victorian/ Dickensian Policemen

Very well suited to Victorian events at Christmas or any other time of year,this old style Victorian Policeman is also available as a double act. Not really to be relied upon for law enforcement but definately a lot of fun!

This Victorian themed entertainer, PC Parody, is available on his Penny Farthing or as a stiltwalker...or both.

Monsieur Doo

Monsieur Doo is a French onion seller who rides around on his ridiculous comedy bicycle trying to sell his wares. Well actually, he is Mr Doo with a dodgy french accent and limited french vocabulary! A very silly act available on the stilts bicycle and also the sea sick bike. A combination of the two can also be performed at an event. Suitable for all sorts of events...a very silly clown act!

Blag-it the Wizard

This wizard is more of a clown character than a magician, hence the name. This is a really daft character not only suited to Halloween. A great walkabout performed on and off of stilts.

Medieval Doo

Mr Doo medieval jester, what more can be said? Suitable for, well shall we say, "Medieval events"?
Shown here as part of double act Phillippe - Philloppe but available as a solo act too.

Angels. . .of the West

A great meet & greet act or general walkabout. These comedy characters use their juggling skills and silly sense of humour to entertain at corporate parties, Christmas lights switch on's and various other types of events. At night and in low light, juggling can be in the form of very dazzling and programmable glow clubs and balls. These clubs flash, change colour and look fantastic.

These angelic beings (!) are great for Christmas but available all year round as a solo or double act.

Fire Juggling

Very visual indeed, Solo Circus perform a variety of impressive stunts with fire including Fire Eating. Although mostly suited to the dark, Fire Juggling is also impressive in the day. An excellent meet & greet act for evening events.
Solo Circus is safety aware and does have adequate public liability insurance.

Glow In The Dark Juggling

Very modern, high tech, programmable, light up juggling props that can change colour and strobe. Mainly suitable for nightclubs and evening events during dinner or later on the dance floor. Juggling props including Balls, Clubs and Diabolo are used. Depending on venue restrictions, this and fire provide an excellent package for nightclubs or corporate events.

Christmas Themed Entertainment

At Christmas, Solo Circus offers all the usual all year round performances with a touch of holly, mistletoe, glitter and fairy lights.
For instance, the Stilt bike gets a festive make-over, and the Victorian Stilt Walker gets tastfully decorated.

During the festive season the stilt walking Angels get very busy meeting & greeting at evening events whilst the Victorian Policemen get many emergency calls to ensure that all is well and everyone is smiling at Victorian themed Christmas functions.

Circus Skills Workshops

Circus skills workshops (or juggling workshops) can be organised for anything from 1 hour to a multiple day course in Circus Skills. Workshops are for children and adults. Skills taught include Ball, Club and Ring Juggling, Devil Sticks, Diabolo, Plate Spinning,Wire Walking or Tight Rope, Stiltwalking and Unicycling. Workshops include a demonstration of skills leading to hands on experience. Great packages on offer combine a clown show and a workshop.

Solo Circus will this year be freezing its travel expenses based on last years fuel prices. It's my way of giving a discount and keeping my fees realistic in times of financial cut backs.
